My name is Yuki Jin, and I’m 10 years old. I currently attend the Beijing City International School (BCIS). I started learning the violin and piano when I was four, and when I was nine, I was lucky to join the Junior String Orchestra of the Philharmonic Youth Symphony Orchestra. This experience really opened my eyes and let me enjoy the joy of playing music together with others in an orchestra for the first time.
When my mom asked if I wanted to join the orchestra on a training tour to the UK, I felt both excited and a little scared because I had never traveled alone before. But my parents were very supportive and said they would bring my younger sister to London with me. I was really happy at that moment.

When I arrived in London, I quickly realized that traveling with the older members of the orchestra was actually a lot of fun—I didn’t feel scared or lonely at all. The intense and rigorous courses led by the British teachers, along with the performances we gave in the UK, made me feel both exhausted and happy. It was an experience like no other. The comprehensive guidance from the British teachers helped our orchestra improve quickly. Even though I was the youngest member, I could feel my own progress and often regretted not practicing harder before.
While in the UK, I was very grateful to our teachers for introducing us to some of the top musicians in the country. They were incredibly kind to us young students and patient in teaching us not just techniques but also how to express our emotions through music. This made me realize how beautiful playing the violin can be, and it suddenly made me feel very confident and deeply absorbed in my playing.
Besides practicing and performing, Ms. Zhai Jia and Mr. Li also took us to visit many museums, opera houses, and the night scenes of London. Although I had been to London before, experiencing it again with everyone made me even more excited.

After returning home from the training tour, I suddenly felt lonely. I really miss our time in the UK and look forward to our next reunion. I also hope that our leader will take us out again to explore the world and showcase ourselves on the global stage.
I am also grateful to my parents for using their precious vacation time to accompany me during a summer that has had such a big impact on my life. I am very happy.
